Team Scarves
Before Christmas, I got an order for three different pairs of team scarves from a fellow who wanted to give them to his teen and two friends, and their team-spirited Moms. How sweet is that?!?
Krista took the order at work, so I didn’t know exactly what he had in mind, other than they would be black and dark gold, the school colors. I decided to send links to several different crochet scarves pinned on Pinterest, which I thought would lend themselves to that main idea. He picked a single stripe, a multi-stripe, and a checkered pattern.
I used Lion Brand Hometown, primarily because it was bulky and came in the perfect shade of gold. Sadly, the gold I still had to order online because it was not available locally. The problem was that I had no idea how much to order, and I was on a tight schedule and wouldn’t have time to reorder. But I was able to pick up the black conveniently.
I had to adjust the patterns to fit the bulky yarn and to make them roughly the same width, but I think they turned out ok.
Krista tells me he was delighted, especially because they were so soft.
Oh, and as for the leftover dark gold yarn, I think I found the perfect pattern! It’s a basic cowl using off white, dark gold, and a dark marine blue. You can ALWAYS find a way to use that yarn!
